| Roger Bennett Celebration in Glass
| It gives me great pleasure to reveal images of the exciting stained glass project now installed at St. Mary Redcliffe (SMR.) As many of you will know, last November SMR was chosen by Radio Bristol as a site to host a memorial to the late Bristol broadcaster and musician Roger Bennett. Having been commissioned to make two stained glass presentation panels by SMR Friends of the Music I was delighted and honoured when asked to create stained glass screen to celebrate Roger’s life.
 | Thanks to the generous support of BBC Radio Bristol listeners funds were easily raised the screen can now be seen in the church having been dedicated on 1ST July 2006 during a beautiful concert at SMR.
| This project was a collaboration with with Martin Lane, a local and highly skilled fine furniture maker. As you can see we designed a three sectioned, stained glass and timber screen, that will be displayed in the under-croft at SMR, home of Rogers band the Bluenotes. Each section of the screen is self-supporting and self-illuminating, both echoing and complimenting the sweeping arches of the under-croft. | |
 | ...I felt the stained glass needed to represent the joy and pleasure that Roger brought to the people of Bristol through his broadcasting. This is achieved using a rainbow of colour, combining many of Rogers passions to create a striking piece which fuses contemporary design and traditional stained glass techniques....
| The finest quality coloured glass from English Antique Glass combines beautifully with the locally sourced English oak of the frame. The images above show Martin and I working on the screen in our respective studios near to Westonbirt Arboretum, Gloucestershire

 | I would like to thank everyone who has been involved in making this project happen. It has been an immense priviledge and a wonderful opportunity for two craftspeople to showcase their talents and create a long-lasting and suitable tribute to Roger.
